On 17 March 2024 at 0150 UTC, the Greenlandic trawler LOMUR issued MAYDAY as the crewmembers experienced adverse water ingress in the engine room. The crew attempted to bale out the engine room, but the water level kept rising. Hence, the crew decided to evacuate the ship by means of MOB and rafts. Shortly after the evacuation, the police vessel ILIK arrived at the scene, and all crewmembers were transferred to ILIK and brought safely to shore. Three hours later, LOMUR foundered.

Danish Maritime Accident Investigation Board has launched an investigation.
